- Hey Crew, Nev here. It is heaps of fun and super easy to get your preferred dimensions on a performance proven Firewire board. Just follow the simple steps, design your custom Firewire online and then view a 3D PDF of your board. You will need to download AND view the 3D PDF via the latest version of Acrobat Reader - please see the FAQs - step 11 for more details. And if you’d like to order your board at a later date, just have fun with the design module and save your designs.
- Step 1: Choose the Firewire Stock board that is closest to the custom design you’re considering.
- Step 2: The program will automatically load those dimensions into the Custom Board Design (CBD) and then allow you to manipulate the following specs:
- LENGTH
- WIDTH AT CENTER
- ADJUST NOSE AND TAIL
- CENTER THICKNESS (nose and tail thickness adjust automatically)
- Step 3: Select either Futures or FCS fin systems.
- Step 4: Select your shipping instructions. It will take 10 - 12 weeks for your board to ship.

- SMALL CHANGES MAKE A HUGE DIFFERENCE
- CBD allows you to fine tune our boards to suit your needs. For example, my favorite board is the FE 602Q (6' 2" x 18 3/4" x 2 1/2" squash), but I would prefer the SAME board to be a bit narrower and thinner - 6’2” x 18 5/8” x 2 3/8”.
- Whilst this is only a 1/8” difference in width and thickness, it is actually a lot less board and the perfect adjustment for my 5’11” x 150lb frame. I chose not to adjust the nose and tail widths as CBD automatically morphs these dimensions in proportion to the width change.
- However you can also adjust the nose and tail widths if you like, but there are limitations to preserve the overall design integrity of a particular model.
- For example, if you wanted to narrow the tail on a Dominator by more than 1”, then you would be better off using the Alternator as the starting point. Design is ALL about balance...without balance, you will have none!
- SPECS PARAMETERS:
- Nose and tail widths can be adjusted -1/2” to +1/2” from the stock dimension.
- 1/16" adjustments to thickness are available as this has a big impact on volume. The range is -1/8" to + 1/4" as we don't want to dramatically affect the foil.
- The program automatically creates a 3D PDF of your custom design, which you can then compare to the stock model that you used as a starting point.
